St. Jean de Luz--South of France (Basque Country)

Our 5 1/2 hour train ride from Paris to St. Jean de Luz was a breeze.  We arrived and our hosts, Ryan and Frederic, were there to greet us.  We headed to our best dinner yet, plates of squid and monk fish were so delicious and a real stretch for Jen! After dinner we shared wine on the patio at Frederic's parents house, which was just adorable.  Frederic shared with us, some history and customs for the people in Basque Country...such a great way to learn! After a good night's rest, we headed to Biarritz another famous city in Basque Country and so beautiful! We had lunch, shopped, and tried chocolate from a well-known sweet store in this region.  We got dropped off at the train station where we attempted to buy our tickets to San Sebastián, but due to a transportation strike had to wait until the next morning.  So we decided to putz around the cute shops and pedestrian streets of St. Jean de Luz.  We headed back to the hotel to freshen up and got a bit to eat about 9:30.  From there we headed to Dukes, meeting some cool people and practicing our French and Spanish skills.  It was a late night, so the next morning we got ready, slowly, and caught our train to San Sebastián, Spain, just a ten minute train ride and 30 minute metro trip from St. Jean de Luz!
