Athens, Greece.....The End

We had another long travel day, so rather then attempt the city's transportation system, we opted for a taxi.  We were reassured our 20-30 minute cab ride would cost us just €25, so we thought we'd found a sweet deal......unfortunately 20-30 minutes turned into almost an hour because our driver mis-read the name of our hotel when we showed him the reservation.  Of course he tried to get his boss to convey that it was just a mistake of poor English, but we weren't having it, we agreed to €35 since the distance was really more than we expected, but nothing more.  When we arrived at our hotel, he tried to get more out us, but we were on to him, we grabbed our bags first, handed him the €35 and walked away, while he argued something in Greek! At that point we were over it! Unfortunately, because of our delay, anything worth sight seeng was already closing, so we grabbed an American meal in a plaza close to our hotel.  The night was spent reorganizing our bags and gearing up for the 17+ hour travel day home.  It's been the trip of a lifetime! We saw so many beautiful places, drank great wine, ate delicious food and met some wonderful people! We feel grateful to have been able to enjoy such trip, but are also anxious to get home!

Unfortunately we had a four hour flight clay in Philly.....so when delayed one must drink:)

Santorini, Greece

We were shuttled to our hotel after another long ferry ride, only to get on a bus to catch  the famous sunset in Oia. We climbed the streets up to the perfect spot and enjoyed the beauty.  We found a close dinner spot, over looking the horizon, where we enjoyed a great meal. Since the day had already been long and hot, we decided to get some beers and head back to the hotel to enjoy the pool.  We lasted a couple hours longer, but hit the hay pretty early.  In the morning (about 11:00am) we got up and ready to go wine tasting.  Before venturing out, we grabbed a gyro to prep our stomachs.  We got to the winery and were able to enjoy 12 different tastings along with some olives and cheese.  We stayed for a couple of hours, periodically enjoying the iPod music of a Russian tourist. As he walked around, we would get ear fulls of his  blasting Russian music over the winery's background music-pretty funny! We were a bit unsure as to what to do on the beautiful island if you weren't honeymooning, so as we tasted we asked a few couples for some suggestions.  We decided to head back to town to take the cable car down to the old center of town.  We were able to snap some pictures and walked around a little bit.  We were fortunate enough to find a shop owner handing out dinner suggestions, so we made reservations and went to enjoy a cocktail before dinner.  We ate dinner, watched another beautiful sunset and called it a night.  The next morning we headed for our ferry to Athens for the last night of our trip.

Mykonos, Greece

To our surprise, our ferry arrived in Mykonos later than expected. Our hotel shuttle driver was a cute little Greek lady. She frantically told us all about the island on our way to the hotel.  After another long travel day with sweat and the stale ferry air we needed to take showers and freshen up before we hit the town.  We had traditional Greek cuisine and then headed toward the Scandinavian Bar, where we spent the rest of our evening/morning.  We made friends with a group of law students from Ireland.  We talked to them about "crack" (things that are fun) and shared multiple Irish car bombs. We then headed to the disco, where we had a VIP booth (thanks to our waiter from the downstairs connected bar). We danced on tables and partied until 5am. Our late night caused us to wake up at 2:00 in the afternoon. This translated to a perfect day a the beach to recover:). We got ck to town,  saw the famous windmills and then headed back to our hotel to get ready for dinner at Nico's Tavern. The food, beer and atmosphere were great, but the girl next to us was a bitch. She looked like a gypsy trash bag who was obnoxiously loud and mocked us. After a few dirty looks and ultimately telling her to shut up, we headed to another restaurant/bar where we had a fancy cocktail and then headed home.  The next morning we had breakfast and then walked around little Venice for some shopping. About mid-day! our hotel shuttle drove us to the ferry to catch our ferry to Santorini.

Tripolis, Greece

We woke up at 4:30am knowing we had to be ready at 6am for our driver to take us to the airport and to endure the 400 stairs uphill. Thank God for for our driver Vincenzo, it was a smooth ride all of the way to Naples airport.  We arrived just in time(3hours early) only to wait two additional hours for some sort of delay. Getting through security was rough, it's as if people are in a race to get anywhere and they stand so close behind you in line,  you can feel their hot breath against your neck. Jillian set off an alarm with her backpack as we were corralled into a waiting area to get on the plane. Once we arrived at the Athens airport we had to take two buses (3 hours) to Tripoli, making for a long travel day. We were greeted at the train station by Jillian's friend Katerina. She took us by her mom's house,  where we met her aunt and mom and enjoyed a delicious dessert. We then headed to Roula and Yai yai's house. George and Betsey were there too, so nice to visit and catch up! We visited for a while and then got ready to go out for a traditional Greek dinner. The food and company was amazing. We called it an early night and when we woke up Roula made breakfast and frappes for us. Delicious! We stayed at the house the whole day day which was full of day drinking, cards, and conversation. That night we headed into town for some gyros and drinks.  We only stayed out until 2:00AM  because we knew we had another long travel day ahead of us. We headed out early to catch our ferry to Mykonos....
